This is Stella. Stella is my mom and the sweetest lady in the world. This photograph of her is probably one of my two most favorite ever. The other favorite, taken in 1954, is of my Dad sitting by a hotel window in Rome playing his ukulele. These photographs are priceless to me and I've enjoyed looking at them for years. Because of these images, I've been able to meet and know an aspect of my parents that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. I mean, wow! These two were kind of wild! MY PARENTS!
These photos though, aside from being sentimental for me are also a really good demonstration of my philosophy of photography. Memories are priceless. Capturing these memories forever into images that you and your kids will love looking at for years to come is so worthwhile, sometimes more than we can imagine. I also believe that since each of us is a unique work of art from nature our photographs should be unique works of art too.
With that said, just know that I appreciate the value of images to treasure for a lifetime. I love to photograph people from 1 day old to 100 years old; when they're doing nothing special or when they're having the biggest day of their life. When I photograph for you it will be with the attitude that we're making original and artful heirlooms and if you want to have lots of fun and be nutty, all the better! I will even follow you into a fountain if that is where you want your picture taken. Besides, we're not just taking those pictures for you, we're taking them for your kids, and their kids, and their kids...
